Welcome to Galway Camera Club online

Galway Camera Club has been running for over 20 years and is a diverse group of individuals interested in taking and viewing photographs. With a broad range of members from Professional to Amateur, we cater to all kinds of photography, from Digital to Film. We have members with interests in Infrared, Pinhole and Lomographic photography, along with more standard fare such as Landscape and Portrait photography.
There are also beginners classes available and new members are always welcome.
We meet on a Thursday night at 8pm in the White Room in Cluain Mhuire college (GMIT), Wellpark Road, situated a short walk from the junction at the Huntsman.

Thanks again to Art O'Briain.

It was great to have Art O'Briain in tonight, showing us his work with Fergus Bourke. Fergus is quite an inspirational photographer, and I have to say I really liked that his rye sense of humour came through in the film. RTE have a great intro to the film here.

If you want a look at more of Fergus works, the Gallery of Photography have a collection of thumbnails on their website.

The new exhibition that Art mentioned takes place from next Wed in the Pepper Canister Gallery, 3 Herbert St, Dublin 2. Full details are here.

In Between Days

On members nights, we will have introduced a 10 minute section in the middle. This is to give new members and those without a longer show, the chance to show some material and talk about their work. If you are interested in doing one of these, don't hesitate to contact us and organise it.

Beginners classes moved to Oct 10th

Due to the addition of the celebration of Michael Kelly's life and work, Beginners Classes will now commence on Oct 10th instead of Oct 3rd as previously mentioned.

Oct 3rd: Celebration of Michael Kelly's contribution to the club.

Galway Camera Club members were saddened to hear of the death, during the Summer, of Michael Kelly, a long-time
and stalwart member of the Club. Our deepest sympathy goes to his wife, Frances, and to their family.

Our meeting on Wednesday, October 3, will be devoted to a celebration of Michael’s long and valuable contribution to the Club.
Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Kilcoyne, P.P. Cong, with a homily by Donal Taheny. Danny Griffin will pay tribute to Michael’s
contribution to photography and to the Club. This will be followed by a showing of a selection of Michael’s photographic work.
